Now that you’ve settled in as a hospitalist, what’s next? How can you grow your career in hospital medicine, especially in leadership positions? What do you need to do to position yourself for major opportunities? What do you need to know?

This course will take you through building different careers in hospital medicine, with a focus on leadership positions. We will show you how to explore different opportunities, help you understand how to lay the groundwork for establishing your reputation, and give you insight into what your next steps should be. We will teach you the fundamentals of negotiation for yourself and for your group, including approaches you should be taking daily, and cover the ins and outs of hospital finance. We will explore basic skills of self-management and managing others that anyone moving into a leadership position should be familiar with. Finally, we will cover mentoring and sponsorship, which are critical to advancing your career.

Faculty will have leadership experience in different realms to provide information, insight and advice. There will be plenty of opportunity to interact with course faculty and network with faculty as well as attendees.
